Preschool Reading

There are plenty of scholarly studies that show a strong relationship between singing and literacy development in preschoolers — and there is plenty you can do to help cultivate this connection. Check out this article on the Scholastic website for the why’s and how’s

Summer Session Wraps

What a great group of children!

Our summer session met for the last class of the summer last night. I love how each class I teach has its own personality. This summer’s class was ALL GIRLS! That has never happened before in my Musikgarten classes. These little girls wanted to join hands and dance together before, during, and after class, often leaving their grown-ups to stand on the fringes. It is so much fun to see these little relationships develop, even if it is only in the confines of music class. The social skills they are learning will serve them well into the future.

Don’t think music class is not for boys, though – half of the girls were brought every week by dad!

If you are like I was before I researched preschool music classes, you may be wondering what benefit a class for toddlers could afford your child. You can look through my blog posts for some of the answers to that question, but the best way to find out is to visit a class! I hope you’ll join me in September for the fall semester.

Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood

I came across this video this morning and wanted to share it with all my Musikgarten families. Mr. Rogers related to children in a very special way, and his message is timeless. It’s good to know that even my children can continue to learn from him how to “grow ideas in the garden of your mind”!

Enjoy!

Louisville Kids Fair THANKS!

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by the Notable Beginnings booth at the Louisville Kids Fair on Saturday and Sunday!

We had a great turn out and I hope to see many of you in class this week. Classes are almost full, but there is still room if you didn’t sign up at the Fair.

If you haven’t registered yet, you can print a Registration Form and bring it to class. Please call or send me an email to let me know to expect you. I look forward to making music with you and your children!
